TED-Ed Talk: Pharyngeal Jaws

Pharyngeal jaws are an adaptation most fish have to allow for better capture and processing of prey. This post links to my TED-Ed talk about pharyngeal jaws.

TED talks have bridged the communication gap between scientists and general audiences. However, most TED talks are delivered to adults. TED-Ed Lessons were created as a platform for bringing science to all ages. These talks are played over animated videos which illustrate science concepts. Each video is accompanied by an online publicly available lesson plan that can be modified to be age appropriate. The lessons can be used in kindergarten and college classrooms. For this lesson on pharyngeal jaws, I wrote the script and all of the lesson plan materials. These materials can be found on the Ted-ED Lesson Website. To explore all of the features be sure to click through the tabs on the right of the video labeled Watch, Think, Dig Deeper, and Discuss.
